Bringing the Peace Corps Home
The power of Volunteer stories
Returned Volunteers bring home a wealth of stories and experiences of serving in a supporting capacity on community prioritized and led projects.
Share your experience of living and working within a new cultural context, communicating in another language, and building relationships to fulfill Peace Corps’ third goal.
By sharing your stories and experiences of working together with your community partners, you have the power to:
- Inspire new Volunteers to join the Peace Corps.
- Open up a world of future career and personal opportunities for yourself.
- Promote peace, compassion, and understanding.
- Help others to see and believe in the power of human connection.
- Bring the world a little closer together!
How to tell your story
There are many ways you can help fulfill Peace Corps’ third goal, from talking to your family and friends about your experiences to giving formal presentations. Check out these tips for how to find, craft, and share your story of service.

Share your experience in person or virtually
Consider inspiring the next generation of Volunteers by speaking at schools, at other in-person events, or even by doing virtual presentations.
The Global Connections program allows learners to experience different countries, cultures, and traditions by introducing them to customs, beliefs, and service journeys many have never considered.
These connections inspire global competency in the classroom and beyond, while giving students an insight into the Peace Corps experience.
