Serve in the Place Where You're Needed Most

Know you want to serve but haven’t decided on a specific country or position? There's a place in this world where you can help make a remarkable difference, and the Peace Corps can help you find it.

Why serve where I’m most needed?

If you are interested in Peace Corps service but can't or don’t want to choose a specific country and position, you can choose to go where you are needed most, and we’ll identify a program that matches your skills and interests.

Because some programs receive fewer applications, they’re in greater need of qualified candidates. When you apply to serve anywhere, you help fill the gap and realize an equitable distribution of Volunteer energies worldwide.

What happens when I apply to serve where I’m needed most?

Our placement team will match you to a program without limiting their search to a single country. Instead of waiting for a very specific position to open up, you’re next in line to go anywhere that aligns with your skills, language qualifications, preferences, and availability.

Can I indicate preferences?

Yes! During the application process, you can indicate which service sectors and geographic region/s you prefer.

In which countries or sectors am I likely to be placed?

That will depend on your preferences, skill set, and the Peace Corps’ open positions, but to give you a general idea: roughly two-thirds of Volunteers are placed in Africa and Central and South America, and more than half of Volunteers are placed in the Education or Health sectors.
