Twisting Creek Ital Farm in Jamaica has request the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Agro-tourism Business Development Specialist. Twisting Creek Ital Farm is a 4.5-acre farm located in Airy Castle, St. Thomas, Jamaica. The farmers acquired the use of this land in 2021 with a vision of creating a farm that uses regenerative and permaculture farming techniques. They have since embarked on a project to create a completely organic farm that will welcome locals and visitors with a hope of exposing them healthier ways of farming. The objectives of this project include assisting the farm to obtain organic certification; developing a comprehensive business plan to address continued farm improvement; development of organic products; farm to table dining outreach/training activities; and developing a model for other farmers to utilize in the establishment and promotion of agri-tourism and organic/sustainable farming.
The PCRV will collaborate with the farm to achieve these objectives through the execution of activities which will include the development and implementation of a business plan strategically partnering with Parish and National Agencies. The PCRV will assess the farm & related activities, review with colleagues the mechanisms & other processes used to determine priorities, and other responsibilities and duties.
Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change as a result of partner needs or other external factors.
