Country Welcome for Philippines

Mabuhay! Welcome to Peace Corps Philippines!

Thank you for your interest in Peace Corps service in the Philippines. If you decide to embark on this journey, you will be joining a vibrant, multicultural, and deeply welcoming community with a rich Peace Corps history dating back to 1961. Volunteers who serve here often find that their experience in the Philippines is transformative, not only for the communities they serve but also for themselves.

The Philippines is an archipelago of over 7,000 islands, each with its own unique culture, traditions, and languages. Filipinos are known for their hospitality, resilience, and strong sense of community. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a culture where relationships deeply matter, and where your service will be valued in ways that extend far beyond your primary assignment. Whether you are placed in a bustling town or a quiet rural village, you will find warmth, generosity, and a spirit of bayanihan (collaboration) among the people you meet.

Peace Corps service is an incredible opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful change. As a Volunteer in the Philippines, you will engage in impactful work in education, youth development, and coastal resource management, among other areas. Your ability to listen, adapt, and integrate into your host community will be key to your success. You will build strong connections with your host family, colleagues, and neighbors. These relationships will stay with you long after your service ends.

I know firsthand how life-changing Peace Corps service can be. I began my own journey as a Volunteer in Conakry, Guinea, and it shaped my perspective on service, community, and the power of intercultural exchange. I carry those lessons with me to this day, and I know that you, too, will gain invaluable experiences that will shape your outlook on life.

Our team of dedicated Filipino and American staff is here to support you every step of the way. Pre-service training will equip you with essential language, technical, and cultural skills to help you navigate your new environment. Throughout your service, we will provide continuous guidance and support to ensure your safety, well-being, and success as a Volunteer.

Peace Corps service is both a communal and personal journey. While you will be part of a larger cohort of Volunteers, your experience will be uniquely your own. You will face challenges, and also experience moments of joy, learning, and fulfillment. The effort you put into integrating into your community, learning the language, and embracing new ways of thinking will be important to the success of your service.

On behalf of the entire Peace Corps Philippines team, we look forward to welcoming you to this wonderful country and supporting you on your service journey. We can’t wait to see the impact you will make and the memories you will create.

Maraming salamat at hanggang sa muli (thank you and see you then)!
