About the project

Bishkek State University, Osh State University, and Jalal-Abad State University in Kyrgyzstan have requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as STEM/STEAM Education Specialists. In the Kyrgyz Republic, both STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education are actively promoted and integrated into kindergarten through secondary school curricula. The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation has identified a need for support to train teachers on innovative STEM teaching methodologies, develop STEM teachers’ capacity to lead classes in English, and advise on STEM curriculum for a 12-year education system.

Each PCRV will be actively involved in the educational and outreach activities of their assigned universities to develop the STEM competencies of teachers and students, as well as to implement advanced technologies and international practices in the educational process. The PCRVs will also facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions for educators on innovative teaching strategies in STEM.
