About the project

The City/Municipal Local Government Units and State Universities in the Philippines has requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Environmental Protection and Adaptation Specialists. In response to emerging environmental issues, the Philippines government launched nation-wide efforts to further positive environment outcomes by building the adaptive capacities of women and men in their communities, increasing the resilience of vulnerable sectors and natural ecosystems to environmental degradation, and optimizing mitigation opportunities towards sustainable development. The Local Government Units (LGUs) and state universities seek Peace Corps Response Volunteers to assist in coordinating with other relevant offices and community partners to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of implementing these activities.

The specific roles and responsibilities of the Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) will depend on his/her specific technical expertise and in consideration of the assessed needs of various LGUs and state universities. The PCRV will work closely with the designated staff and other key individuals with activities such as, but not limited, to assist in the assessment of environmental issues, conduct research and other related data gathering activities, and conducting trainings, workshops, conferences, fora, orientation, seminars, symposiums, etc. Overall, this partnership seeks to highlight the promotion of a collective and inclusive approach towards a comprehensive and integrated environmental framework.
