Country Welcome for Moldova
Welcome to Peace Corps Moldova!
Volunteers and staff are excited about the work we do; thanks for taking a look to learn more about the projects and activities we have underway and the impact they are having.
This year we celebrate our 33rd year in partnership with the government and communities across Moldova and we are proud that over 1,600 Volunteers have served here.
Volunteers work in three project areas: English Education, Health Education, and Community and Organizational Development.
Volunteers live and work in the communities they serve:
- Working alongside and supporting teachers, students and community members to strengthen their English language skills
- Partnering to develop specialized knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to lead healthy and productive lives
- Participating in a range of community-based organizations and local public administrations to strengthen leadership skills and organizational capacity
Many Volunteers build lifelong relationships with their host families and carry Moldova in their hearts throughout their lives and careers. Wherever in Moldova I travel I meet people who remember the Volunteers who served in their communities when they were children and who shaped their hopes and vision for their future here.
I hope the collage of pictures and information we have assembled gives you a sense and excitement for the contribution this partnership is making to Moldovan communities.
If after perusing the Peace Corps Moldova site you are interested in applying to become a Volunteer or host a Volunteer in your community, you will find helpful information on your next steps to begin your adventure.
Moldova is at a pivotal moment in a very long and complex history and now, more than ever the world needs peace and friendship.
I am looking forward to welcoming you into our Peace Corps family, enjoying this unique opportunity where together we are building a bright and prosperous future for this “small country with a big heart.”
