Peace Corps Announces Top 2023 Volunteer-Producing States
The Peace Corps today released its rankings of the top volunteer-producing states across the United States, categorizing states by the number of Volunteers who began their service in fiscal year 2023.
“I am grateful to all the states and communities across the U.S. represented on this list for inspiring the powerful sense of service that has led so many to join the Peace Corps,” said Peace Corps Director Carol Spahn. “While abroad, Peace Corps Volunteers share their full selves – including a bit of the hometowns that helped shape who they are – with the communities they serve. And everyone benefits when those experiences are as richly diverse as our nation and everyone who calls it home.”
Building on this momentum, the Peace Corps is excited to extend its Bold Invitation campaign, reaching out to a new generation of Americans eager to make a meaningful impact globally. The agency’s invitation underscores the Peace Corps’ commitment to creating sustainable change in partnership with local communities around the world. As volunteers embark on their journeys, they not only contribute to international development, but also gain invaluable personal growth and professional experience.

(8) Georgia and Pennsylvania: 54 Peace Corps Volunteers started service
