About Palau
The Peace Corps has a strong legacy in the Republic of Palau, where Volunteers have served since 1966. Until 2018, the Peace Corps maintained a one-program, two-country model for Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia, during which time more than 4,400 Volunteers worked alongside community members in these Pacific Island countries.
The next chapter of the Peace Corps' partnership with Palau began in 2024, with preparations for re-entry. A group of up to 10 Volunteers is expected to arrive in May 2026. The Ministry of Education requested that the Peace Corps place Volunteers in elementary schools, where they will teach English and literacy. Volunteers will also engage in other activities focused on locally prioritized projects.
