Passport and Visa Instructions

Now that you've been invited to serve, you must apply for your passport and visa immediately to ensure you are eligible to depart for service.

Step 1: Passport instructions

All Peace Corps Invitees must apply for a no-fee passport, even if you already possess a personal passport. If you do not currently possess a valid personal passport, we encourage you to obtain one to use for personal travel during and after your service. Use of the Peace Corps No-Fee Passport for personal travel is not permissible under State Department policy.

Have you accepted an invitation to serve two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer?

All Peace Corps Invitees are encouraged to obtain a Personal U.S. Passport for travel during and after service. Use of the Peace Corps No-Fee passport for personal travel is not permissible under State Department policy so we suggest you complete the instructions for the Complete the instructions for the DS-82 [PDF] to apply for a personal "tourist" passport while simultaneously applying for a Peace Corps No-Fee Passport.
