Integrated agriculture on-farm training center
Agriculture Volunteer Jonathan collaborated with a local NGO to implement a project that aims to increase farmers' income while maintaining soil fertility.
Through funding from a USAID grant, Jonathan and his counterpart Augustine created a training center where local farmers could come and learn about integrated agriculture—a system of farming that utilizes different agricultural components in order to lower costs and raise efficiency of the farm. The duo has been training 50 community members (most of them women) on different farming systems including improved gardening techniques, fish farming, and animal husbandry. Since training began, many farmers have implemented practices that have increased household income and sustainability in their farms.
