Support Recruitment
Help us recruit 8,000 Volunteers by 2030.
We are on a mission to recruit 8,000 Volunteers by 2030 and RPCVs are our best tool to do this. Most Peace Corps Volunteers serving today say they were inspired to serve by an RPCV.
We want to support RPCVs to better inspire the next generation of Volunteers.
LinkedIn digital engagement
Potential Volunteers often question if they can serve with their mix of education, work experience, and interests. We're calling on RPCVs to help us guide potential Volunteers on the next best step in their journey to the Peace Corps. To make this process more seamless, we're developing a profile review system that leverages LinkedIn as the connection point.
RPCVs interested in participating will review potential Volunteers' LinkedIn profiles and serve as an experienced connection to inform and motivate them. This one-on-one connection enables potential Volunteers to get tailored advice from someone who has already completed service.
Get involved! Register your interest in connecting with potential Volunteers digitally. We'll handle the matchmaking.
FAQs
We will collect the details of interested Volunteers and match them with an RPCV willing to review their profile and provide advice. You will get an email with the contact details and a link to the person's LinkedIn profile to facilitate reaching out.
We will work to equitably disperse matches across RPCVs. Matches will depend on how many requests received. As soon as an applicant requests a connection, their information will be shared with the RPCV participant with the fewest current matches. Matches will be sent one at a time, not in batches.
Similar to how you may engage with someone who asks you questions about serving. Review their education, experience and skills and advise on where they can make an impact. For example, if someone has worked in a corporate role for a few years, they may be a good fit in our Community Economic Development sector. If someone speaks French, that could put that skill to work in a role in West Africa. Or if someone has a lot of commitments, the Virtual Service Pilot may be a way they can share their experience remotely. Be sure to take a look at current open positions before reaching out to them.
Once accepted into the program, RPCVs will receive additional guidance to support their engagement with perspective applicants.
LinkedIn is a platform on which users have their resume as part of their profile. This not only makes it easy to review without requesting an emailed document, but it is a public forum on which people generally act as if they were in a professional setting. You can choose to contact them as a LinkedIn direct message, via email or with a phone call.
Most current Volunteers cite that being inspired by an RPCV - whether that be a family member, a friend, a colleague, a teacher, etc. - as their reason for applying to join the Peace Corps. The more we can facilitate supporting those interested in serving with those who have served will help us reach our goal of 8,000 Volunteers by 2030.
We estimate it will be a 1-hour time commitment per potential Volunteer you're matched with. This should be enough time to:
- Review their LinkedIn profile
- Consider if there are current opportunities on the Peace Corps website that may be a fit for them.
- Write a message on LinkedIn, send an email, or give them a call to discuss.
- Have a small amount of back-and-forth if the individual has a question(s).
If they have ongoing questions, you are welcome to continue to communicate with them, or - if you prefer - pass them to the Peace Corps team via [email protected] or 855.855.1961. A dedicated recruitment support staffer will help them from there.
Please email [email protected] to opt out. We will remove you from the distribution. If you have any matches that were received but not yet contacted, please let us know, and we will reassign those.
No. Matches are dependent on the number of requests from perspective applicants and the number of participating RPCVs.
RPCVs are expected to provide a timely response to their match and all participants are expected to engage in professional and respectful communications. The Peace Corps reserves the right to remove participants from the program at any time.
