About Pacific Quest Corp.
Pacific Quest provides fully licensed and accredited residential mental healthcare on the Island of Hawaii. Our integrative, individualized approach combines specialized clinical care, nature-based experiences and holistic wellness to boost self-esteem, heal trauma, and get to the root cause of what might be holding residents back. Adolescents Age 13-17: At Pacific Quest, we take a strengths-based approach to help our students get to the roots of their challenges, learn sustainable skills, and realize their resilience and ability. Young Adults Age 18-24: On the Big Island of Hawaii, we create a safe space to practice new, sustainable life skills under the supervision of our integrated team of clinical, therapeutic, and wellness specialists.
Duties
Essential Duties:
- Uphold safety, supervision, and monitoring of residents in accordance with Program Policy
- Learn and articulate the Pacific Quest mission, guiding principles, and curriculum.
- Effectively communicate with residents in a group setting and direct resident groups toward common goals; demonstrate flexibility with placement, program, location, and resident supervision assignments; observe and identify the needs of individual residents and the group to create a physically and emotionally safe and supportive environment
- Role model program expectations at all times, which includes upholding our diet and wellness standards while at work
- Build and maintain rapport with residents while holding boundaries that further therapeutic outcomes
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Keep appropriate boundaries related to self-disclosure, avoid teaching or speaking about controversial beliefs while at work including but not limited to political, religious, medication, diet, or lifestyle choices
- Maintain professional appearance and attitude in accordance with Program Policy
- Participate in professional development through mandatory and voluntary monthly in-service training
- Able to cover for medication passes as needed, once trained
- Complete documentation of resident observations and incidents in a timely and thorough manner
Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to be a team player and form mutually respectful relationships with all employees
- Ability to maintain physical alertness and activity over the course of designated work hours in a safe manner
- Must provide and maintain current CPR/First Aid certification. CPR certifications must be from in-person training. Wilderness First Aid & Wilderness First Responder are acceptable for CPR if the card specifies that CPR was included.
- Maintain a current NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training) certification provided by Pacific Quest
- Treat all residents, families, and coworkers with dignity and respect
- Prehire and ongoing background and fingerprint checks; drug screen clearance
- Maintain current physical and TB clearance
- Demonstrate alignment with Pacific Quest Core Values: (1) Professionalism; (2) Health; (3) Connection; (4) Resilience
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree preferable, specifically in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Farming/Agroecology, or Outdoor Education/Leadership OR a minimum of two years relevant experience
- Experience is preferred in education, outdoor recreation, health and wellness, 12-step recovery, gardening, and/or experience in therapeutic settings such as residential treatment centers, programs serving at-risk populations and/or rehabilitation centers.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record
- Minimum preferred age is 21 in order to meet Company auto insurance requirements
