About Network of Dedicated Enrollment Sites (NODES)
Join our collaborative, mission-driven team at the Puget Sound Veterans Affairs (VA) as a Research Nurse supporting the Cooperative Studies Program (CSP) Network of Dedicated Enrollment Sites (NODES). Our team is dedicated to high-quality clinical research that improves health outcomes for our Veterans. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of clinical trial operations; from participant recruitment and eligibility determination to protocol adherence, biospecimen collection and processing, and study outcome evaluation. Prior research experience is strongly preferred but not required. Schedule is Monday–Friday, day shift.
Duties
Manage Daily Operations: Oversee day-to-day activities of assigned VA studies, ensuring successful recruitment and accurate data collection. Participant Interaction: Screen, recruit, and build meaningful rapport with potential study participants. Confirm eligibility, obtain informed consent, and enroll qualified candidates while delivering an exceptional experience at every touchpoint. Clinical Responsibilities: Perform a variety of study procedures, which may include physical assessments, medical history reviews, EKGs, IV placements, titration and management of study medications, and phlebotomy. Provide ongoing case management and participant follow-up to monitor safety, including the determination and documentation of Adverse Events (AEs) and Serious Adverse Events (SAEs). Lab Work and Biospecimen Handling: Order, collect, process biospecimens; review results; and ensure proper handling, transport, and shipping per protocol. Data Collection and Documentation: Conduct study surveys, chart reviews, and study procedures while maintaining accurate, organized documentation; including case report forms (CRFs), enrollment logs, and participant reimbursement forms. Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and manage regulatory documents, including informed consent forms, drug/device accountability logs, and regulatory binders, ensuring adherence to all local and federal research regulations. Communication and Reporting: Track study progress, maintain timely communication with the coordinating center, report adverse events, and prepare for audits. Attend required study and center meetings. Collaborative Work: Partner closely with the NODES Associate Director of Operations (ADO) and Local Site Investigator (LSI) to ensure smooth study operations, with the ability to adapt to emergent needs. Travel: Study visits may occur at American Lake (Lakewood) and/or Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), with possible occasional national travel for CSP research meetings. Additional Duties: Support other research tasks as assigned to advance the success of the CSP
Qualifications
Required: Current Washington State Nursing License Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Preferred: Experience coordinating and executing large-scale clinical research studies Institutional knowledge of VA and/or CSP research operations Proficiency with CPRS, Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV), and/or CERNER Familiarity with DF Discover or other clinical trial data management systems Experience working with Veteran and/or underserved populations Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
