Peace Corps Jordan Program Temporarily Suspended

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 7, 2015 – The Peace Corps today announced the temporary suspension of its program in Jordan due to the current regional environment. All Peace Corps volunteers have departed the country, but Peace Corps plans to maintain its office in Jordan.

The Peace Corps will continue to assess the broader regional climate and hopes volunteers can return in the near future.

Volunteers’ well-being is Peace Corps’ top priority. There were 37 volunteers in Jordan working with local communities on youth development. More than 560 Peace Corps volunteers have served in Jordan since the program was established in 1997.
