About this program
The Wurzweiler School of Social Work offers ultimate flexibility in completing your MSW degree. We offer full-time and part-time options with coursework that can be taken in different modalities: live virtual classroom (synchronous Zoom classes); on-campus coursework; a hybrid combination of both; and even some asynchronous coursework. Class times are offered during the day, evenings and even Sundays to accommodate both traditional students and working professionals.
We offer the option of three advanced practice methods: clinical one-on-one work with individuals and families, group work or community practice. Our Practicum Education Office has over 800 placement site partnerships across the tri-state area, Canada and Israel and works with students to find their placement. We also offer optional elective specializations (known as certificates woven into the curriculum) in: CASAC, Gerontology and Palliative Care, or Trauma Informed Practice. Our faculty are leading experts in social work practice. With our small class sizes of 10-15 (capped at 18), faculty can nurture, support and guide students with intentionality.

Cost savings details
$20,000 total scholarship (approx. 25% total cost savings) for time in the program. The funds will be disbursed across time in the program based on percentage of coursework taken each term. For example, if in the first semester the student is enrolled in 25% of their total coursework, 25% of the $20,000 scholarship will be applied and so on until the last semester of study.
Internship
Fellows must complete two internships in the 60-credit MSW program which fulfills the practicum placement requirements of the degree. The first-year placement is known as the generalist year and is meant to establish a baseline for students in the social work competency areas. The second year is an advanced practice year where students pursue a placement in the advanced practice area of: clinical practice with individuals and families OR group work OR community practice. Each year of placement requires 600 hours for a total of 1200 hours for the program. This further breaks down to 21 hours per week of internship. The Practicum Education Office works with all students on placement. Current employer agencies may be used for practicum if they fulfill the established criteria set forth by Wurzweiler.
Fellows in the 30-credit advanced standing program (those who have acquired a BSW within the last 5 years) complete one 600-hour practicum placement.
