About this program

The Evans School partners with the Peace Corps Paul D. Coverdell Fellows Program to offer a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. The Evans School's top-ranked Master of Public Administration (MPA) program emphasizes broad-based fundamentals in policy analysis and management, and allows students to pursue a field of specialization through an area of focus. Focus areas include international development; metropolitan and urban policy; social policy: poverty, education, and social welfare; public finance and budgeting; public policy analysis and evaluation; public leadership, management, and decision-making; nonprofit management and philanthropy; and environmental policy and management.Many Fellows opt to fulfill a community service component through internships or the Student Consulting Lab, which links the skills and services of second-year Master of Public Administration (MPA) students with the real-world needs of nonprofit and public agencies. As part of these capstone project experiences, participating students will work specifically with nonprofit organizations and public agencies to evaluate programs, conduct strategic planning and policy analysis, and develop new program designs.

Cost savings details

For out-of-state students who receive the Fellowship, we provide a reduction of tuition to the in-state amount and a monthly stipend that totals an estimated $15,000 over two academic years. For Washington State residents, we provide a tuition award of $15,000 over two academic years.

Internship

Evans School Master of Public Administration (MPA) students are required to complete a 400-hour documented internship experience within a public, nonprofit, or private organization. Some students may already meet the internship requirement upon entry into the program. All students will submit an Internship Planning Form via in the first quarter to determine their status. Students entering with two or more years of recent, relevant professional experience will be evaluated to determine whether or not they've already met the internship requirement. For many students, the internship is a cornerstone experience, giving students an opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom to real-world problems, related to policy development, implementation and evaluation that directly align with your career goals.
