About this program
Coverdell Fellows enroll in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program and can select a specialization in Community Development or Public and Nonprofit Management. Fellows with five years of professional experience (Peace Corps service inclusive) may also apply to the Executive MPA program.
The Coverdell Fellowship covers both tuition and fees. Full-time students complete in 3 semesters, part-time students complete in 4 to 6 semesters. Fellowships are renewable for two years as long as the student remains in good academic standing. Rutgers–Camden offers a unique urban setting in which students have opportunities for civic engagement and participation in the greater Philadelphia/South Jersey region.

Application requirements
Official undergraduate transcripts, personal statement, resume, references, application form, and Description of Service (DOS).
Admissions process
In the personal statement, applicants must indicate they are applying for a Coverdell Fellowship, and upload their DOS indicating qualification for the Fellowship. Applicants should address their plans to relocate to the Philadelphia/South Jersey region in the personal statement if accepted to the MPA program. Applicants are notified of acceptance into the MPA program and status of Coverdell Fellowship award at the same time.

Internship
In order to meet the Peace Corps requirements, Fellows are required to enroll in an internship course. The faculty member collaborates with the Fellows to identify an internship placement. Most internships are paid.

Nontraditional options
- Option to pursue degree part time while receiving the Coverdell Fellowship. On campus classes are offered in the evenings, Monday-Thursday.
