New York University - Gallatin School of Individualized Study

About this program

Gallatin students design an interdisciplinary concentration that draws on courses in the departments and programs in the various NYU schools and colleges. Many of our students have an interest in creating programs addressing issues of globalization; human rights; world cultures; gender studies; area studies; social entrepreneurship; international economic development; media and communication; public health and public administration; environmental studies; social change; community development; and the visual and performing arts. Students have access to the resources of NYU along with deep and committed faculty advising.

While Gallatin is a flexible program, certain required courses ensure that our students are well prepared to pursue a self-designed study. A master’s thesis is the final requirement and may be in the form of an extended research paper, an artistic work, or a professional project. NYU Gallatin offers a 50% tuition scholarship for the Coverdell recipient, yearlong cohort-based career development workshops, and personalized career support.
