Our specialties include: special education, mathematics teaching (preK-8), English language learners (ESL), and social-emotional learning. Through the Paul D. Coverdell Fellows program, Mount Holyoke College Graduate Programs selects up to two Return Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) for each Masters program who will receive a 50% tuition scholarship. All students do either a student teaching placement or work on a capstone project. Students work with underserved, impoverished and/or disadvantaged communities and will work closely with a mentor throughout the process.

Application requirements
Bachelors degree, college transcript, two letters of recommendation, a personal essay, and a confirmation letter from Peace Corps indicating your service. MAT students will also need to pass the MTEL Certification Test: Communications and Literacy.

Cost savings details
Scholarship equal to 50% of tuition (only) for the selected program. Based on your area of focus your program may be 32-38 credits Students may also apply for student assistantships that would also help reduce the cost of the program.
Internship
All Coverdell Fellows do an internship in the form of either a student teaching placement or a capstone project. They work with their program directors to identify projects and settings that will help them develop their knowledge, skills, and practice as educators. With the guidance and support of professional mentors throughout the process, they are able to explore a range of opportunities to serve impoverished and disadvantaged youth and communities.

Our alumni work in both public and private schools, in urban, suburban and rural settings. Our students work in settings across the United States. Massachusetts has teacher license reciprocity agreements with 49 states and abroad through NASDTEC. While many of our alum teach in the US, we also have alumni who are working abroad.
