About this program

Duke University's Master of International Development Policy, is a flexible, self-designed program for mid-career professionals who plan to dedicate their careers to policy-making and public service for developing, post-conflict and transition countries. The program provides a holistic approach to sustainable development through a foundation in economic, policy and empirical analysis. With this foundation, fellows continue to develop knowledge and skills that allow further interdisciplinary competencies in a broad area of specializations including global health, peace and conflict resolution, social policy, applied economics, environmental management and policy, and development management and governance. Coverdell Peace Corps Fellows make up the few Americans in the program and provide a US perspective to the development conversation. Graduates go on to make significant contributions to social, political and economic development efforts worldwide.

Admissions process

There is not a separate application. Coverdell Fellows submit their DOS along with the MIDP application and they will automatically be considered for the Coverdell Peace Corps Fellowship.

Internship

Coverdell Peace Corps Fellows make significant contributions to our local community by working with community based non-profit organizations during their time in the MIDP. The Coverdell community internships are completed during the academic year leaving the summer free for an overseas internship, if desired. Coverdell Fellows work up to 10 hours per week with their local partner in a variety of sectors including homelessness, environmental stewardship, non-profit management and health. A staff person works with each Coverdell Fellow to assist them in securing a local community internship that best fits their personal and professional goals.
