About this program
Located in the heart of New York’s Hudson Valley region, the Bard College Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program is a discipline-based graduate teacher education program leading to a master's degree and New York teacher certification in grades 7-12. The Program combines graduate coursework in the discipline with graduate coursework in education and student teaching placements in area partner schools. Degrees and certifications are offered in one of five subject areas: Biology, History/ Social Studies, literature/ English, Mathematics, or Spanish Language. The Program can be completed in one-year (full time) or two-years (part-time).

Application form, personal statement, resume, official transcripts, 3 letters of recommendation.
Admissions process
Fellows check the box stating that they are applying as a Coverdell fellow. Application fee is waived for all Fellows prior to the application being submitted.

Internship
As part of the requirements for this program, all students complete two student teaching placements in area partner schools. Each student is placed with a mentor teacher in both a middle and high school classroom for a total of over 640 hours of in-classroom, supervised teaching experience.
