About this program

Our distinctive programs in environmental policy, climate science and policy, environmental education, and sustainable business offer Fellows access to the knowledge, tools, methods of inquiry, professional development, courage, and ambition necessary to create effective change on the scale that these extraordinary times in which we live demand. Fellows within each of our graduate programs will enjoy financial and academic benefits while taking part in the unique curricular offerings here at Bard.

Online application, official transcripts, 2 letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, resume, admissions interview.

Admissions process

Applicants who seek to apply to the Coverdell Fellows program should submit an official DOS to the Bard Graduate Programs in Sustainability Admissions Office. RPCV's may indicate their status as a Coverdell Fellows applicant within the online application. Applicants who are accepted into a program of study will also be notified of their acceptance into the Bard Coverdell Fellows program.

Degrees awarded

Master's of Science in Environmental Policy Master's of Science or Climate Science and Policy; Master of Business Administration in Sustainability; Master’s of Education in Environmental Education. Dual Degree Options: Master's of Science/Master's of Business Administration in Sustainability; Master's of Science/Juris Doctor with Pace Law school; Master's of Science/ Master's of Arts in Teaching with the Bard Master of Arts in Teaching program.

Please note that the tuition and fees do change slightly each year, but Coverdell Fellows can expect to receive:

  • CEP Fellowship: 30-40% off of tuition  
  • MBA Fellowship: 30% off of tuition
  • $65 Application Waiver
  • Program Assistantship opportunities: Bi-weekly stipend

Note: Tuition within Bard Graduate Programs in Sustainability differs by program. The fellowship award amount is based off a percentage of the tuition of each program .

Internship

Bard Graduate Programs in Sustainability Coverdell Fellows students are required to complete an internship and/or community engagement project in an underserved U.S. community over the course of the program in which they are enrolled. Program faculty and staff support Fellows in identifying key communities and projects to initiate this work. Students enrolled in the Center for Environmental Policy may complete both an internship supporting an underserved U.S. community and an internship abroad (to build upon an interest in international development work).

Coverdell Fellows who wish to pursue a dual MS/JD with Pace Law are only eligible to receive Bard Coverdell Fellows benefits while enrolled at Bard.
