About this program
Arizona State University, ranked number one nationally for innovation by U.S. News & World Report, offers a unique master’s program in international development in the School for the Future of Innovation in Society. The M.S. in Global Technology and Development (GTD) covers socioeconomic and political aspects of global development, examining the role of technology, and exploring innovative ways to address global challenges. In this program you will take courses in development theory, policy and practice, research and area studies, with the freedom to construct your own area of specialization through elective courses and the final capstone project.
Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) have experienced global development issues and contexts firsthand, and often return with unique knowledge, commitment, and passion to pursue careers in development. This makes you, as an RPCV, a strong candidate for the Master of Science in Global Technology and Development. The GTD program at Arizona State University has proven to be very relevant to RPCVs, with many participating and graduating from the program, to go on to pursue careers in international development, as well as other sectors, including higher education.

Costs above are based on AY2020-2021. Fellows will receive a 25% Teaching Assistantship with a stipend, plus a 100% tuition waiver.
Internship
The internship requirement is an opportunity for Coverdell Fellows to work with underserved communities, and involves, at minimum, 300 total hours of work. Students in the M.S. in Global Technology and Development currently may complete an internship as an elective option. Coverdell Fellows would be able to satisfy part of the internship requirement (135 hours) for their Fellowship, and at the same time receive 3 credits towards their degree. Several entities in the Phoenix area have welcomed internship applications from GTD Coverdell Fellows, including the City of Phoenix, Americorps, International Rescue Committee, and Maricopa County. The GTD Coverdell advisor will work with each student to identify and assist with appropriate internship options for each Fellow.

Alumni from the M.S. in Global Technology and Development have been employed, upon graduation, in myriad of sectors, including the United States Agency for International Development, the United States Department of State, and a number of international development NGOs, as well as technology companies.
Nontraditional options
The core courses are all offered in the evenings, there are many electives offered online. Students can take other electives from across the University.
