Health Center Community Kitchen
Description
This project aims to improve maternal and child nutrition by establishing a dedicated community kitchen at a rural health center. Malnutrition and stunting among young children remain major concerns, and current education efforts are limited by the lack of space for practical instruction. Community members identified the need for a kitchen where mothers and caregivers can learn to prepare balanced meals using locally available foods.
The project will construct a functional kitchen that will host weekly cooking demonstrations integrated into existing health services. Its goals are to increase knowledge of appropriate feeding practices, strengthen health workers and community volunteers in delivering effective nutrition education, and encourage households to adopt nutritious diets. Follow-up visits to homes will reinforce positive behavior change and support consistent application of new practices.
Driven by community priorities, the effort relies on local contributions and active participation throughout implementation. The health center will manage the kitchen and incorporate it into routine services, ensuring the activities continue beyond the grant period.
