Tablets for Elementary School
Description
This project will strengthen early‑grade literacy and introduce structured digital learning within the elementary division of a long‑established K–12 institution in Liberia that continues to rebuild after years of disruption. The division serves young pupils and teachers who currently have limited access to modern tools that support engaging instruction. By providing tablets and related technology, the project will enhance foundational skills in phonics, reading, and language arts through guided, age‑appropriate digital activities.
Teachers and parents will receive training to integrate these tools into daily instruction and supervised use so that pupils engage safely and effectively. A Community Tablet Committee will guide storage, maintenance, and accountability, ensuring responsible stewardship and reinforcing strong local ownership. Girls and boys will benefit from more interactive learning, and educators will gain strengthened skills in managing digital instruction.
This initiative responds directly to priorities voiced by school leadership, teachers, and parents: increasing pupil engagement, strengthening literacy outcomes, and equipping learners with essential skills for a rapidly changing world. It also lays practical groundwork for future expansion into offline digital library systems, positioning the institution as a potential model for broader adoption. Expected results include improved pupil participation, measurable gains in early literacy, strengthened teacher skills in digital instruction, and the establishment of a sustainable model for integrating technology into early‑grade learning.
