Secondary School Computer Lab

Project by Jaden C., Volunteer from Texas
Kenya Technology

Description

This project will expand access to technology and digital learning resources for more than 100 secondary school students by establishing a computer laboratory, ensuring reliable internet access, equipping classrooms with projectors, and providing laptops for instructional use. It was developed in response to a community‑identified need for greater access to information and communication technology resources. Teachers, school leadership, students, and other stakeholders recognized that limited access to computers and digital tools constrained student learning, digital literacy, and future opportunities.

The project aims to increase student access to technology, strengthen digital literacy skills, and enhance classroom instruction through the use of digital resources. To meet these goals, it will create a functional computer laboratory, install projectors to support interactive teaching, supply teachers with laptops to develop digital lesson materials, and provide internet connectivity to broaden access to educational content. Expected results include improved student computer skills, expanded access to online learning materials, more effective teaching, and increased student engagement.

By preparing students for higher education and employment in an increasingly technology‑driven world, the project will generate long‑term benefits for learners. Community members and school staff have contributed actively to planning and will continue supporting implementation, maintenance, and sustainability efforts. Through strengthened local ownership and thoughtful long‑term planning, the initiative will create lasting educational improvements for current and future students.
