Support Girls to Achieve Academic Excellence

Project by Mary W., Volunteer from Illinois
Kenya Education Women and Girls in Development

Description

The goal of this project is to ensure that grade 10 learners have the resources required by Kenya's competency‑based education so they can successfully demonstrate mastery in their chosen pathways and pursue careers that match their interests. The project focuses on strengthening opportunities for students through improved access to learning tools.

The objective is to purchase instruments and equipment for music students, along with information and communications technology and media equipment for the rest of the grade 10 learners at a girls' secondary school. Students currently lack resources to play, learn, and gain knowledge about music, and they also lack digital literacy skills and reliable ways to access the internet as required by the curriculum.

With the support of this grant, the expected outcome is that learners will achieve academic excellence in their selected pathways and be well‑prepared for further study and entry into the job market.
