Description

This grant supports essential improvements to hygiene, security, and overall safety for learners at a school that serves children with hearing impairments. Renovating the existing dormitory will create a safer and more hygienic living space, which can strengthen the well-being of learners and contribute to better health outcomes in the wider community. The renovation has long been recognized as a community priority, guided by the school’s administration and governing board, but financial support is needed to move the work forward.

Community members fully support the effort to strengthen the dormitory so learners can focus more effectively on their education and daily routines. Once completed, the renovated space will be maintained by trained school staff through consistent checks and oversight from school leadership. These ongoing efforts will help ensure that the improvements continue serving learners for many years.

Addressing inadequate housing and plumbing will also allow the school to turn its attention to other urgent needs affecting girls, boys, and women connected to the school, such as repairing a missing roof in lower primary classrooms and addressing ongoing food shortages. By resolving the dormitory’s challenges, the community can focus on additional initiatives that help learners with hearing impairments grow, thrive, and succeed.
