English Learning Center

students in front of school
Project by Carolyn B., Volunteer from Colorado
Ecuador Education

Description

This project will establish an English Learning Center designed to strengthen teaching skills and improve student learning. A primary objective is to provide ongoing training and support so teachers can lead more interactive and communicative lessons. The Center addresses a priority identified by the community and will supply basic equipment and learning materials the school currently lacks.

The Center will include simple technology, tablets, and resources that make English classes more dynamic and accessible for students at different levels. Students will learn through videos, audio, games, and group activities instead of relying only on textbooks that are often too difficult. These activities are expected to increase student interest and confidence, improve participation, and help prevent students from falling behind. Over time, stronger English skills will support students in pursuing higher education and future job opportunities.

This work is the result of collaboration among teachers, parents, administrators, and technical staff. Community members helped plan the space, raise funds, prepare the room, and design how it will be used. They will continue to guide, manage, and maintain the Center to ensure it remains active after the grant ends. Sustainability will be supported through shared leadership, teacher training, local maintenance, and full integration of the Center into the regular school program.
