Youth-Led Water Tank
Description
This project will strengthen community resilience by improving access to reliable water and enabling local youth to lead a meaningful development effort. By installing 53 household and community rainwater harvesting systems, it will create a dependable water source during frequent service disruptions, enhancing hygiene, food preparation, household cleaning, and overall daily well‑being.
The effort responds to a priority identified through the community’s development planning process. Alongside improving water access, it offers members of the local youth group the chance to apply project design and management skills they recently gained through participatory planning training. Youth will guide implementation, oversee logistics, monitor progress, and evaluate results, with support from experienced community leaders and technical partners.
Expected results include full installation of all harvesting systems, better access to clean water during outages, and increased confidence and leadership abilities among youth participants. The effort will strengthen collaboration by engaging residents in construction, monitoring, and long-term maintenance, ensuring strong local ownership and sustainability. By combining practical infrastructure with leadership development, it creates lasting benefits that extend beyond improved water access, equipping emerging community leaders with the skills and experience to guide future development initiatives.
