Football League
Description
This project seeks to expand opportunities for girls to participate in organized sports by establishing a sustainable football league in a rural community where current options are limited to boys. Community members identified the absence of suitable programming as a major gap, and there is strong interest from girls, families, and local leaders to create structured opportunities for participation.
The project will support the creation of four to five girls teams, supplying equipment, structured training, and chances to compete with nearby communities. It will also fund transportation for matches and host a large community tournament with trophies, medals, and certificates to recognize participation and achievement. Key objectives include increasing regular involvement in football, strengthening confidence and teamwork skills, and fostering broader community support for girls in athletics. The project also aims to integrate these teams into an existing local football structure to ensure long-term sustainability.
Expected outcomes include 70–90 girls taking part in organized sports during the year, greater visibility of girls in football, and stronger community acceptance of their involvement. Over time, the project will strengthen local structures to manage and sustain the league independently.
