Girls Coding Camp - Northern Albania
Description
The Girls Leading Our World with Code program aims to create a future where girls and women can develop strong digital leadership skills and expand their opportunities. A central objective of the project is strengthening skills through training and knowledge transfer so participants can continue learning and teaching others. The project works to reduce economic and geographic barriers that limit the potential of girls and young women, helping them build confidence and essential technical and leadership abilities.
Key activities include a training conference for volunteers and technology instructors before each summer camp. This conference features a “training the trainers” component to ensure instructors fully understand the web development curriculum and can teach it effectively. Instructors complete preparation assignments and receive additional mentoring when needed. The summer camp is supported by Junior Instructors who are girls and young women who completed the program the previous year. They help manage activities, practice leadership and project‑management skills, and provide continuity for new participants.
Former campers also contribute by helping review applications for new students. With guidance from the program’s coordination team, they conduct interviews and score candidates, gaining valuable experience while showing new participants the leadership roles available as they advance. By strengthening local skills, creating a cycle of mentorship, and offering pathways for girls and young women to grow into instructors and subject‑matter leaders, the project supports long‑term development and a sustainable educational model.
