Youth Employability & Experiential Opportunities
Description
This pilot program aims to support motivated young adults who need stronger practical skills to move confidently into the workforce. Implemented by the Office of Humanitarian Assistance, it will assist approximately sixteen university students and recent graduates between the ages of twenty and twenty‑four, with particular outreach to groups that often face limited access to professional development. The training is designed to strengthen participants’ job readiness by offering a structured learning experience focused on real‑world employability needs.
Participants will take part in weekly sessions that cover essential job‑search abilities such as resume development, interview preparation, and effective strategies for identifying employment opportunities. They will also strengthen soft skills, including communication, teamwork, and professional conduct. The program introduces participants to general labor market expectations and incorporates input from local businesses, which may contribute through guest sessions or brief mentorship to ensure the training aligns with current workforce demands. While some short‑term exposure to workplace environments may be offered, the program’s primary goal is to prepare participants to independently pursue employment rather than guarantee internships.
Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion and a formal letter of recommendation highlighting the strengths and competencies they demonstrated and gained during the program. The pilot emphasizes measurable skill development, increased confidence, and a clearer understanding of professional environments. Results from this initial effort will inform a scalable model for future programming, including the potential introduction of more structured training pathways that may later be paired with internship opportunities.
