Description

The Youth Environmental Action and Green Spaces Initiative is a community‑driven effort that strengthens youth civic engagement while improving public outdoor areas. Young people currently have few opportunities to participate in meaningful community development, and many local green spaces remain overlooked or poorly maintained. The project will collaborate with a local youth Scouts chapter organized by a community association that offers hands‑on learning related to stewardship, recycling, and community leadership.

Through a series of interactive workshops, participants will learn practical skills in project planning and community engagement. Youth will assess nearby outdoor areas, identify those in need of attention, and work with local partners to organize improvement activities such as cleanups, planting, and installing simple enhancements like benches or waste bins. Participants will also coordinate outreach efforts, including online campaigns and community presentations, to promote responsible practices and strengthen community pride.

The project will lead to greater awareness among youth, improved public outdoor spaces, and stronger cooperation between youth groups and local institutions. Participants will gain valuable experience in leadership, teamwork, and project management, helping them become more active contributors to community development. By working with a nearby technical school and strengthening partnerships with community organizations, the initiative will support continued youth‑led efforts beyond the grant period.
