Designated English Classroom

Faculty
Project by Edward O., Volunteer from Utah
Kosovo Education

Description

This project aims to improve the quality of English language education by establishing a permanent, fully equipped English classroom in a school where instruction currently takes place in rotating, non-dedicated spaces. The absence of a fixed classroom limits the consistent use of interactive teaching methods and reduces the effectiveness of available learning materials. This project responds directly to a community-identified priority to strengthen English instruction and improve student engagement. The primary objective is to establish and operationalise a dedicated English classroom by the end of the grant period that is actively used for instruction across Kindergarten through 9th Grade. The classroom will be equipped with visual learning aids, activity-based materials, and basic digital tools. Each week during the school year, at least 80% of every scheduled English lesson will take advantage of this immersive environment. A second objective is to increase student participation in interactive, student-centred learning. By the end of the grant period, at least 80% of English lessons will incorporate interactive or activity-based teaching methods supported by the classroom resources, as documented through periodic classroom observations and teacher reporting. A third objective is to expand access to structured English learning opportunities outside regular class time. The after-school English program will be strengthened to run at least twice per week during the academic year, just like it is currently. This approach will ensure the project continues to directly benefit the students across all grade levels through additional exposure and practice. Expected outcomes include measurable increases in student engagement during English lessons, more frequent and consistent use of interactive teaching methods by the English teacher, and expanded access to extracurricular English learning opportunities. These outcomes will be assessed through teacher logs, school administration reporting, and basic participation records. By the end of the project period, the school will have a functional, sustainably integrated English classroom that supports improved instructional quality and long-term capacity for effective language learning.
