Statement from Director Aaron S. Williams on the Earthquake in Haiti

Washington, D.C., January 13, 2010—On behalf of Peace Corps, I would like to extend our sympathies and support to the people of Haiti, including the local staff and communities that hosted our Volunteers in the past. Although Peace Corps does not currently have a post in Haiti, over 500 Americans have served in Haiti as Peace Corps Volunteers. Haiti will forever be a part of the Peace Corps family. Peace Corps is working with other government agencies to see what we can do to help during this difficult period.

If you would like to do your part to help the people of Haiti immediately, please visit organizations like the Red Cross and consider contributing to the disaster relief efforts.
