PEACE CORPS REFLECTION ON THE TRAGIC LOSS OF VOLUNTEER BERNICE HEIDERMAN

(Washington, D.C. | Updated | Thursday, November 9, 2023) – The Peace Corps continues to mourn the tragic loss of Volunteer Bernice Heiderman. Her passing was profoundly heartbreaking for the Heiderman family, Bernice’s friends, and our entire Peace Corps community. She was a remarkable Volunteer who was admired by her students and community in Comoros.

The health, safety and security of our Volunteers is of the utmost importance to our agency, and we will remain committed to ensuring that every Volunteer has a safe and successful experience. Out of respect for the family, we have no further comment at this time.
