Peace Corps Office of Inspector General Receives Award for Excellence from the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency

WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 19, 2010 The Peace Corps Office of Inspector General received an award for excellence on October 18 from the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE). Former Assistant Inspector General for Audit (AIG/A) Gerald Montoya, Current AIG/A Bradley Grubb, and Senior Evaluators Susan Gasper and Heather Robinson received the Multiple Disciplines Award for Excellence for the audit of the Peace Corps Volunteer Safety and Security Program.

The findings and recommendations of the 2010 Volunteer safety and security audit have been instrumental in helping Peace Corps enhance its safety and security program, increasing effectiveness and accountability, said Peace Corps Inspector General Kathy A. Buller. The 2010 audit findings and recommendations were the subject of Ms. Bullers May 2011 testimony before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

CIGIE is a statutorily established independent entity within the executive branch representing 73 Offices of Inspector General in the federal government. CIGIEs mission is to promote integrity, economy, and effectiveness in government agencies as well as to increase the professionalism and effectiveness of personnel in the OIG community.
