Peace Corps Headquarters Open for Essential Functions

Washington, D.C. (Sept. 11, 2001)—Due to current security events in New York City and Washington, D.C., the Peace Corps Headquarters Office is closed for all but emergency related business. Peace Corps staff will remain on duty to handle all essential functions.

All overseas Peace Corps posts have been notified of these events. All volunteers are being contacted.

If you need information regarding an upcoming staging (pre-departure orientation), please be informed that all staging events scheduled between September 11 - 16 have been postponed. All invitees will be contacted directly by a staging staff member to confirm new staging dates.

For emergency help, please call our toll-free telephone number, 1-800-424-8580. For urgent matters of a medical nature, dial extension 1500. For other urgent matters, dial extension 1470.
