PEACE CORPS DEPUTY DIRECTOR DAVID E. WHITE JR. TO TRAVEL TO THE FEDERAL DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF NEPAL TO SWEAR IN FIRST PEACE CORPS RESPONSE VOLUNTEERS
(Washington, D.C. | Thursday, May 9, 2024) – Peace Corps Deputy Director David E. White Jr. will visit the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal from May 13-19, 2024. This visit will focus on community economic development and will highlight the positive impact from Peace Corps’ long-standing partnership with the people of Nepal.
During his travel, Peace Corps Deputy Director White will emphasize the importance of empowering youth and the enduring legacy of Peace Corps’ mission to promote world peace and friendship. He will also spotlight opportunities for Americans to serve in nearly 60 countries around the world and will uplift Peace Corps' Bold Invitation campaign.
Peace Corps has been active in Nepal since 1962, with nearly 4,000 Americans serving to date. The agency focuses on agriculture, education, gender-focused youth education, community economic development, climate change adaptation, health, and HIV/AIDS prevention.
