Global Health Security County-Level Advisor
Project description
The Ministry of Health (MOH) in Liberia and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Global Health Security County-Level Advisors. The Global Health Security (GHS) was introduced by CDC in 2015, as well as the start of the CDC country office, while all core GHS pillars have been operationalized in Liberia, each pillar is not yet working in a concerted and responsive manner. With additional support, Liberia is well-poised to continue its ascent as a global health security leader on the African continent. The partnership between Peace Corps Response, US CDC technical specialists, and MOH county-level staff will maximize the impact of GHS resources through direct program implementation at sub-national level.
PCRVs will work with officials in sub-national locations that sit in strategic geographic locations within Liberia, and while the PCRVs will be stationed in specific counties, each PCRV will engage neighboring counties within their sub-region. The PCRVs will support the counties to augment Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response, implement points-of-entry health screening, and backstop emergency response capacities that have been established through the counties' existing Emergency Operations Center.
Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Liberia together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
