Georgetown University - Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service - Global Human Development

Why you should consider this program

The Global Human Development Program at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service is a two year, full-time master's degree that encompasses an innovative and academically rigorous skills-based curriculum with built-in opportunities for experiential learning both in DC and abroad. Through coursework, extra-curricular activities, and practical fieldwork experiences, students understand the challenges of development and develop the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to become leaders in the field.

The mission of the Global Human Development Program is to prepare the next generation of development professionals to work with public sector agencies, private businesses, and non-profit organizations to reduce world poverty, achieve human dignity, and make a difference in our global community. Peace Corps volunteers have similar goals when they go abroad in service of local and global communities, and embody values that successful development practitioners need. Returned Peace Corps Volunteers bring in-depth knowledge of their country of service and its particular development challenges. By enrolling in the Global Human Development Program, Returned Peace Corps Volunteers are able to draw on their experiences to add to classroom discussions, expand on their understanding of the needs of the communities in which development practitioners serve, and continue to develop language and leadership skills.
