The Fellows internship will require serving 300 hours per year in an underserved American community within the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Fellows are expected to find their own internship; however, the schools reserve the right to determine if the internship meets the Coverdell Fellowship requirements and, if not, may suggest an alternative internship.

Applicants must be admitted by The Arizona State University Graduate College and selected for admission to the Fellows program. Fellows carry out a 300-hour internship each year, and participate in community service projects and professional development opportunities. Renewal of funding depends on academic progress and meeting service obligations.
