The School of Education is committed to serving the District of Columbia and surrounding areas and has many connections with educational, international and community-based organization in the DC area. The skills Coverdell Fellows will bring to their internship experience will be invaluable for our community partnerships. An internship coordinator will work with Coverdell Fellows to choose an internship aligned with their interests. Fellows in the MAT programs will, in most cases, be able to count their practicum and student teaching experiences as their internships. Fellows in the MEd program will, in most cases, be able to count their Pro-seminar internship experience. Other organizations ready to receive Fellows as interns include:

• Completion of an online application that includes the submission of a statement of purpose and resume
• Submission of official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate study: A 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better cumulative GPA calculated on the last 60 credit hours of coursework completed in an undergraduate program and available at the time of application for admission; A 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better GPA in all relevant graduate work for which a grade has been awarded.
• One letter of recommendation
• For Special Education and Teacher Education: Satisfactory score on Praxis CORE exam or an equivalant exam as set by the District of Columbia
