Vocational Education Teacher and Trainer
Peace Corps Response positions are open to returned Volunteers or U.S. citizens with significant professional and technical experience.
A volunteer with exceptional teaching and TEFL skills is needed to help this VET institution improve English language skill acquisition, teaching methodology, and the of sharing American culture and values. The Volunteer will focus on increasing the English language proficiency of teachers and students; helping teachers to identify the needs of the VET institutions while developing relevant resources and observing the progress of the English language program by conducting seminars and workshops in teaching methodology. The Volunteer will also design and conduct English language courses for staff and community members as needed. These activities will support the professional growth of students involved in VET institutions by offering them trainings in employability skills, presentations on American culture and related topics, and other extra-curricular activities as requested. The goal of this assignment is to improve the teaching methods of VET institutions in Georgia by teaching modern teaching methodologies to local educators, and building up the English language skills and employability skills of teachers and students.
Please note that this position is one of several that will depart for service in Georgia at the same time. It is unlikely that the departure date will change and applicants will be notified if the date does change. Please only apply if you are available on the date listed and if you can serve for the entire duration of the project.
• At least two years of experience in teaching English to adults
• Experience in delivering trainings in teaching methodology
• Desire and ability to develop extracurricular activities such as clubs, competitions, etc.
• Experience in developing English language teaching resources
• Desire and ability to develop workshops in employability and other professional development skills
• Strong communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to take initiative in work
• Flexible and self-sufficient
