Project Description

Two Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRV) are needed to serve as University English Education Specialist in a Georgian public university. Building a strong and effective education system and policy is one of the top priorities of Georgian Government. In recent years, Georgia has made significant strides in changing the post-soviet education system. One of the main goals at this level of education is to support employability by providing English language and other professional skills development opportunities to students. The PCRVs can also play a critical role in developing various teaching and learning resources that help teachers improve their classroom instruction with a focus on speaking and writing skills. The PCRVs will support the development of teacher professional skills through co-teaching and workshops in modern teaching methodologies and helping teachers to incorporate modern teaching methodologies in the teaching process.

Two PCRVs with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, or related field and at least three years of experience teaching English are needed to work with a local public universities. The PCRVs will support Universities to improve their practices of developing educational projects, planning and developing conferences, competitions, or other extracurricular activities supporting employability skills building in English. Additionally, they will support the development of activities in conversational English and writing in both formal and non-formal educational settings. The goal of this project is to improve English teaching and learning practices, while also improving English language fluency and staff professional development.
