Project Description

A Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) is needed to serve as a Malaria Coordinator with Abt Associates Inc. in Uganda. Abt was awarded the five-year U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) VectorLink project to support the implementation of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) and other vector control activities. The support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) has been requested to assist the project in the implementation of effective malaria control programs in the project area with the Operations Manager and the Information Education and Communication (IEC) Coordinator.

A PCRV, with a bachelor’s degree in communication, social sciences, health sciences or statistics, strong technical writing experience, strong social and behavior change communication skills and experience, and data analytics skills, is needed to assist with implementation of the IEC/Social Behavior Change (SBC) components of IRS in eastern and northern Uganda. The Malaria Coordinator will work with two-year Peace Corps Volunteers and their community counterparts, if any, in the project districts to educate communities on IRS activities and other malaria control activities implemented in the area and encourage household participation in those activities. The PCRV will also support the project in the collection and analysis of malaria epidemiological data from health facilities in the region; monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and entomology data analysis; preparing and presenting data in a meaningful way for technical reports; and developing reports, compiling success stories, and preparing supporting documentation for field activities, including publications.

Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Uganda together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
