English Language Teacher and Trainer

Before You Apply

Peace Corps Response positions are open to returned Volunteers or U.S. citizens with significant professional and technical experience.

Project Description

Education Resource Centers (ERC) are territorial entities of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (MESCS) of Georgia. These entities play an important role in implementing the Ministry’s policy in the field of general education, including English Education. ERCs provide support to schools in the process of organizing and implementing various educational programs, as well as introducing and sharing information about new initiatives, reforms or projects of the Ministry of Education and Science, and others. English language teaching is a priority for the government of Georgia. The MESCS places high importance on quality English language instruction for Georgian students and aims to improve the English language program at the school level. There is a shortage of qualified English teachers, especially in the regions. The Ministry provides methodology trainings to teachers and is in great need of qualified English teacher trainers to focus on the communicative approach, positive reinforcement, student centered teaching, integrated classes and other modern teaching methods.

English Language Teacher and Trainers are needed to improve the professional skills of teachers through co-teaching and workshops in modern teaching methodology. With the help of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs), ERCs hope to provide additional opportunities for teachers to improve their language skills, teaching methodology, and increase access to professional development opportunities. ERC staff also needs to improve their skills in project design, writing, and management, and offer workshops in proposal writing to school principals and interested teachers. PCRV assistance will also be important in organizing and planning trainings and extracurricular activities for students and local youth with a focus on conversational English, leadership, Volunteerism, employability, and other skills.

Please note these are approximate departure dates and might change.
