Youth and Adolescent Health Program Advisor

Project Description

The Cameroon Youth Network (CYN) has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Youth and Adolescent Health Program Advisor. CYN has identified a need for support to strengthen its youth health promotion programming in and out of school setting by assisting them assess current interventions and define new goals, objectives, and activities according to identified needs.

To ensure the sustainability of their interventions, the PCRV will build the capacity of CYN associations’ leaders and members on good governance, monitoring and evaluation, facilitation, and coaching skills. The PCRV will also assist CYN to improve its local and international resource mobilization, advocacy, and visibility strategies. Part of the PCRV's role will also be to reinforce the monitoring and evaluation system of the program.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Cameroon together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in public health or a related field
• Intermediate-mid French writing and speaking skills
• Experience in the field of youth health programming and/or youth advocacy and/or resource mobilization;
• Experience working with non-profit and/or international organizations
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation
• Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills, ability to present information and conduct training sessions;
• Strong written communication skills, ability to write and edit training and reporting documents
• Adaptability to living and working in low-resource environments and occasional travel
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
• Flexibility, patience, strong cross-cultural agility
• Self-starter: ability to work independently; resourcefulness, creativity, and genuine motivation
